Appalling shopping experience

I purchased a belt from one of Flower Clothing's Sydney stores. It broke the first time I wore it. It was obvious from the construction of the belt that this was a design fault-the metal decorative piece at the front of the belt sheared through the thin leather straps holding it in place. I returned it to the store from which I bought it and was offered a replacement or a store credit. I didn't want either as it was obvious the same thing would happen again. Also, there was nothing else I wanted to buy. However, I was told I was not entitled to a refund and was consistently refused one. I spoke to Wendy in the store's Head Office in Perth and was met with absolute rudeness, a total lack of professionalism and very poor customer relation skills. I took the matter to the Department of Fair Trading and was advised I was entitled to a refund on the grounds that the belt was not fit for purpose. Still I was refused a refund. I could have taken the matter to court but decided it wasn't worth the trouble. No doubt this is what the company relies on. However, their poor after sales service, woeful customer relations and poorly trained staff ensure that neither I nor any of my friends will shop at Flower Clothing again. An appalling shopping experience with breathtakingly arrogant behaviour on behalf of the staff I encountered, particularly in their Head Office.
