I received a letter in the mail from Hertz Australia claiming I am responsible for windscreen damage & charged $200. I explained to Hertz claims dept. -a Agi Tsarouhidis by email (they don't like to take calls and never return calls) there were two chips (not one as they indicated) and if I was not already half an hour away from the airport I would have returned the car. Several emails & still no reply.
I have been a Gold memeber for fifteen years, have always treated a rental car as my own & have never incurred any damage.
Clearly this is a scam Hertz have going. Send out blanket bills for damage with the expectation most/ if not all will pay. A shameful organisation that does not deserve your business.
