I have an Elite Telstra Wifi and strongly believe that Telstra over charged me.
I am a casual Internet user, I check my facebook and emails daily and sometimes skype (rarely)
I charged my Internet with a $40 voucher which is 1GB, the next day I was out of credit! Not understanding and just assuming I used it all I charged an extras $100 which is 6GB, 2 weeks later I was running out of credit!!! This is when I started asking friends and family, how much is 1GB. (I didn't understand much about the MB and GB etc) To find out that the use of 1GB was a lot in 1 day, so 6GB in 2 weeks, was nearly impossible if I didn't download anything (which I don't and never did). I found out on a web site that in general people use facebook 7hrs a month, which is 500MB per month, so even if I used it excessively I could have only used 1GB a month!! http://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Broadband-Usage-Guide#section-facebook
Telstra admitted over charging me on the $40 and refunded me the amount! Thanks! But of course the 6GB used was "apparently" correct over the period of 2 weeks!!! Which is IMPOSSIBLE! And I am not going to get started on my last 6 months of Internet, as I would have spent around $500 as I was ignorant on the value of a GB!
I strongly believe I have more than once been overcharged, but after 2 hours on the phone with Telstra, the conversation wouldn't come to an end!
I thank them for the $40 and advised them that they had a lost a customer (which is obviously nothing for them).
I would not recommend Telstra as an internet provider, not only due to the situation I am in, but also for all the other people that are actually in the same position as me. (I researched that issue on the ineternet and it seems that I am not the only one with that problem).
