Something I've never heard of until I had these jokers pulled up next to me in a white van, selling supposedly overstocked speakers, 5.1 surround sound system with another set of tower speakers to bump the system up to 7.1
I fell for the 5.1 set-up, payed him $500 and also gave the guy another $30 for 'beer money' which I feel stupid about.
I got the speakers home, jumped on the net to see what I could find on them, found their websited was fairly dodgy looking and then found this site and another site reporting on the scam.
I drove down to Retro Distributors, the address was on the receipt the guys in the white van gave me.. the man I saw there (no idea of his name) seemed pleasant enough, said I would have to come back in 2 days for the refund amount, I went back and got my money back in exchange for the speakers.
The guys in the van were stopped at a set of lights next to me in Doncaster, Victoria, right near the shoppingtown complex.
One of the guys said he was from Frankston, but I have no idea if that is true.
I cant beleive how good their acting skills are, shame they are wasting it on this...
If anyone has any trouble dealing with these guys or getting a refund, please e-mail me.
If only I'd known about this scam before I met these guys.
