Our family asked Dale Alcock Homes for a quote on a granny flat for my daughter's adopted grandmother. In October 08 we asked them to make alterations to the plan they gave us. In January these alterations still hadn't been made. At a meeting, my daughter's grandmother was upset and extremely disappointed that the negotiator knew nothing about the plans. He later lied and said he did but it was obvious nothing had been done or costed, in fact he kept leaving the office to check, returning saying he would get that costed and this costed. Together with her failing health my daughter's grandmother decided it was too much and she no longer wanted the granny flat. We had paid a $10k deposit which we knew we'd lose. I went into Dale Alcock Homes to give them the letter saying we wouldn't be proceeding speaking to the same negotiator to explain the situation. However he was rude and made false accusations about my relationship with the above lady's family. He accused me of saying they had been blackmailing me. I was mortified as the relations are dear friends and highly respected by myself. Then he said that $10k wasn't enough and they wanted more money, re-iterating that I had definitely said the above lies. Was he trying to blackmail me? How is it that building companies can do this to genuine clients? I object.
