On the 3/12 I purchased an ACER Notebook and Microsoft Home & Student 2010 from your Nowra Store. Approximately 8 hours after this purchase my laptop was stolen from my home - the Home & Student was not stolen and had not been installed prior to the robbery. The box that the Home & Student is in was opened due to the fact that I put my receipt in it immediately after purchase for return if either item was faulty. Today 12/12 I went back to my local (SOUTH NOWRA) Harvey Norman and was extremely upset when a rude sales assistant behind the tech service desk told me I could not return the Home & Student due to the open packaging. The receipt was still in the package and I thoroughly explained my situation and the fact that the Home & Student had not been used or ever seen by anyone but myself. This entire ordeal has been traumatic enough without one of your staff speaking down to me and having no empathy for this situation. In this town there is nothing worse than the word of mouth and I strongly believe that this situation should have been handled better by a large retailer such as Harvey Norman.
I would also like to add that I had told nobody that I was purchasing this laptop worth approx $800 . Both myself and the local authorities thought that my address, contact details and value of purchased items may have been compromised when given to the sales staff at this store. This may either by the sales assistant or customers walking behind the open computer where my license details had been entered including my address- I feel that anybody passing by this work station could have viewed these private details.
