I purchased a set of alloy wheels for my car via an internet company www.customwheel.com in the USA. After less than 90 days, a fault appeared with the clear coated finish on one of the wheels. I contacted customwheel who asked for photos of the problem.
At the time the photos were taken, we had endured 9 straight days of rain. consequently, the wheels showed an amount of road and brake dust on them as i had not been able to clean them. because of this, both customwheel and WheelPro, the manufacturer both claimed "Neglect" and have denied a warranty claim to have the wheel in question repaired.
I have tried to contact both companies and ask how they can come to a conclusion such as that without asking any questions regarding the care and maintenance of the wheels?? if they had bothered, they would have found out the wheels were cleaned regularly by a professional car detailer using professional products for this purpose. the detailer was prepared to submit them a statement to that effect. hardly a case of "neglect" now is it??
I believe they are taking advantage of me as i am in australia and now they will not return any of my emails. They were happy to take my money but are now avoiding their obligation to rectify a fault with their product. I found this website whilst trying to seek information on how to take action against these companies.
Any help or advice on how i can chase up these companies for warranty would be appreciated?
