I tried to sign up to onestopdownloads.com today. They offer a $4.73 on time payment option to become a member of their site, this is for lifetime membership.
I joined the site, clicked on the pay now tab and was taken to a secure payment site. Filled in the creditcard details and was told I'd joined megaflixpass.com. This was not the site I was trying to join, I'd never even heard of it before. I had paid for a 3 day membership after which I would be billed almost $40US a month on an ongoing basis.
I immediately cancelled the membership and called my bank. I have been charged the $4.73 plus I assume the $39.73 as I've had two transactions taken from my account (being in Australian dollars it's hard to work out the exact exchange rate).
The company states it has a 24/7 email support system yet I have yet to receive a reply to the emails I've sent them. I am out of pocket almost $60AUD and have cancelled my credit card to ensure they can't deduct anymore money.
I can't help but feel this is a giant scam.
