I have a 1994 2.8D 4x4 D/C ute. The high pressure steering hose failed. Bargaining on a guarantee from Toyota I ordered a genuine part from Rockingham Toyota, Perth WA.
Received Part on Friday, Installed on Saturday, Failed on Sunday and returned back to Toyota on the Monday. The hose has sprung a leak at one end at the crimped connection. Immediately the Toyota representative at the parts department concluded the following:
The Pump Pressures must be too high.
The steering oil used is dirty.
I was confronted with the following prerequisites before a possible claim will be considered after I provided proof that the existing pump and motor was original:
First and foremost I must have the pump tested to proof correct pressures: Toyota would charge $530 to perform.
I must order a new replacement pipe.
The pipe will then be sent away for inspection and a possible claim then be considered. Loose Loose situation!!!
Had pipe fixed by Enzed High Pressure Pipe repairs for $30. It is now 5 months and about 10000km later and still going strong.
Toyota Management at best was willing to offer me $30 refund on providing proof of repairs to original.
APPALLING!!!
Toyota you BULLY!!!
