Channel 7 Brisbane
AFL Coverage Lack thereof

The coverage of the AFL on Channel 7 is worse than abysmal. Their own blurb on the Yahoo 7 website today states and I quote

“This is the highly anticipated top-of- the-table, sell-out clash between the benchmark of the competition Geelong and the new challenger, St Kilda. The Cats have the wood on the Saints winning the last three encounters by more than seven goals each, but the Saints have shown an extra edge in 2009. Ross Lyon has them playing a tough brand of uncompromising football. It will be an epic, combative battle live on Channel Seven.”

Well guess what, it's not live in Brisbane and will be shown at 11.59 p.m. on Sunday night, now why so late and what an unusual time I guess it has something to do with contractual obligations to show the game on the same day that it is played and 11.59 p.m. is the same date, just. When I contacted them they stated some reply in regards to the program "the longest continually running lifestyle show in Australia The Great South East" and how they didn't feel that it should be removed for the football. They have lost the plot completely and I for one am going to watch the Great South East and write down every advertiser that has their advertisment in this time slot. I am then going to write to them individually and advise them that I will NEVER repeat NEVER use or purchase their products. The girl that took my complaint even told me that it was live on Foxtel and that I should watch it there. Rubbish, who can afford that!

I have written to the AFL as well, they are partly to blame for this situation, the coverage needs to go to someone who is serious about the AFL in Queensland. Seven obviously doesn't care, how will the next team on the Gold Coast go if we can't get the big games up here live! So much for brand and product recognition and for promotion of the game. It's just a bloody joke!
