My Father and I rented a car from Rolo Rent A Car in Brisbane for Christmas 2002 to New Year 2003. It was a bit beat up but the price was good and the guys that we were dealing with were great.
All went well until I had to return the car. Unfortunately due to running late I had to leave the Vehicle at Brisbane Airport to be picked up by Rolo. When I got back to the UK I found that Rolo had charged my Dad's Credit Card for Damage. I'm not saying the damage wasn't there but what I am saying is that the damage was there when we picked the car up (I have a photo of it - not on the day that I picked it up though unfortunately).
It was a very disappointing experience after the initial service we had received at the depot. I have heard since via the Internet that this is not unusual for Car rental companies in Australia.
I don't expect anything to happen with this but if I stop just one person getting ripped off then that will be great.
