Internet & Web

InternetSubmit.net is one of 5 or 6 companies that act as marketing arms for a bigger company called Inktomi. Inktomi is in the business of taking the URL addresses of websites that people build and registering them with the many search engines on the internet such as Yahoo, Google, Alta Vista, MSN Search, AOL Search, Webcrawler, Lycos, Excite, Go/Infoseek, etc, etc. Inktomi is a very reputable business as far as I know.

But it is difficult if not impossible for someone with just one or two websites to deal directly with Inktomi. They employ a half dozen companies like InternetSubmit.net who act as "marketing arms"to sell you subscriptions for your website at a commission. Not all of these "marketing arms"are reputable. You basically give them your URL address and for a fee they register your URL for a given period of time, usually one year.

They guarantee results, or so their web advertising says. In early March I submitted a URL address to InternetSubmit.net for approximately $45 for an Inktomi submittal for which I expected to be very visible for about 1 year on about 40 of the top 50 search engines including all of those mentioned above. Initially I was very visible and the results were more than I expected. But about a month after I had submitted my URL I noticed that, by using very obvious keyword search terms, I was beginning to disappear from the rankings in a few of the search engines.

By that I mean I wasn't going from a number 2 or number 3 ranking to a number 15. My website was basically disappearing altogether from the search engines. Now, after about 90 days, where I was formerly listed on about 45 search engines, my website is listed in only about 4 places. It has become obvious to me that InternetSubmit.net is only subscribing you for a period of 1 month turning in a very small portion of the fee to Inktomi and pocketing the difference. I have complained vociferously and all they do is shrug their shoulders and tell you that they can't control the rankings of the search engines, that each search engine has it's own algorithm which control the rankings of all search engine inquiries.

After numerous unresolved complaints I have asked InternetSubmit.net to honor their guarantee and refund the $45 as I was obviously not satisfied with their service or their responsiveness. The have refused to honor that guarantee.

Just a word of advice, there are numerous companies that provide a service that InternetSubmit.net is supposed to provide. Most are reputable, InternetSubmit.net is not one of them. I believe they operate from Australia but I am not certain of that.

By all means if you are in the web publishing business and want your websites to be seen by the public you should avoid doing business with Internet Submit, InternetSubmit.net, internetsubmit.net, internetsubmit.com or any similar name.

A much more reputable firm is I Need Hits or ineedhits or ineedhits.com. I believe they are American.
