Hosting issues, excessive downtime, rude staff, poor service levels

We used them to host a community website. They sold us a VPS and promised good service - the usual sales tactics. We were given a package that included 'managed hosting' and paid extra for that service thinking it would come handy as we didn't know much about the hosting at all. A few weeks later, we needed some script to be installed which should have been installed on the server at the first place. They charged us $120 citing that their technical support was $120 an hour - no mention of why we were paying extra for so called 'managed service' at all.

Later, the service became extremely unreliable and every 2-3 months, website would go down for 1-2 days - causing us disappintment and embarassement only to find out that server was NOT 'managed' by them serverside log size exceeded the disk size causing server to go offline. They charged us every month for offline backups which were never TAKEN in reality and they confessed that by mistake when we cancelled the service later on.

In addition to all those problems, they were terrible in providing support and very rude on the phone. We ended up moving to a cheapr hosting with much reliable service. They became hostile in the end and we had extreme difficulty in getting our data copied away from their server in a safe manner. They refused to refund our prepaid fee - around $800.

A bad experience all in all - would not recommend their service to someone who is serious about hosting. There are much better companies out there and you deserve a better run for your buck. They certainly need to make drastic changes to the way they do business else they will be driving away their customers one by one.
