Conduit and Firefox

I had been using Firefox as my default browser and Google as my default search engine, for a few years. Today however, Conduit took over, of its own accord. The search engine sucks! more than half the page is paid advertisers, it wastes my time, trying to find what I want. Then I tried to get rid of Conduit and go back to Google as the search engine and it wouldn't let me. I spent half an hour and couldn't get my old settings back. So I decided to delete Conduit and all traces of Firefox from my computer, and have vowed never to go back to Firefox... I regard you as vandals and time wasters.
