Sold us an EXTREMELY uncomfortable bed and told us it will get better with use???. It is their top of the line mattress -but it is certainly not "Bellissimo"!! Newcastle New South Wales

My husband and I bought a Bellissimo latex queen ensemble from Makin Mattresses on 6th June 2009 for $2535, with the promise that it would be extremely comfortable with its seven zones of body support. (After we finalised the payment details the salesperson added that we need to rotate the mattress once a month forever - with our old one we did that 3 or 4 times a year.)

The first night we slept on it we were surprised that it was very uncomfortable but we thought our body had to adapt to a new bed and we persevered. During the first week 2 hollow dips were forming where we lay, and a high ridge formed between us. This made sleeping very uncomfortable for both of us. My back and neck cracked a lot upon waking and I felt sore and stiff. My husband who never complains also said his back felt sore.We have not had a good nights sleep on this bed yet.

After 3 weeks I contacted the manufacturer and they offered to "loan" us a pillow top mattress to place on top of the bed so it would be more comfortable and also told me I had to rotate the bed and allow my body to mold to the bed and that eventually it would be as comfortable as the one on display.

We rotated the bed, slept on the rotated mattress for the next two nights. It was exactly the same - the dips in the bed were in the same spots. We placed the pillow top mattress on top of the bed. The first few nights it seemed softer and slightly more comfortable but the dips in the bed formed through the pillow top as well. (By the way we need to pay $295 for the pillow top - it wasn't really a loan.)

My husband and I are extremely distressed and not sleeping well at all. I have spoken to the employees at Makin Mattresses many times about the problem and have tried to resolve the matter. My husband and I would like to return the bed and receive our money back as the product is not at all what they advertise.They say no they want to exchange the bed for a spring box mattress top:-

The mattress we bought was their top of the line at cost of $2295 (top) They want to replace with mattress top that costs $1195 plus $60 delivery fee plus $600 for repairs and amendment to the returned mattress which they cannot sell back to the public anyway, or so they tell me!

That will leave us with $440 store credit. We bought 2 new pillows from them at the time we purchased the mattress and there is nothing else that we want or need from their store so that means we would lose with their solution. Not only the money but the replacement top mattress might sag and be faulty just like the previous one and we'll be back where we started.
A SINCERE WARNING to anyone out there who wants to buy a mattress. Do research, that is, find out what other people think of the product. Go to reputable dealer. KEEP AWAY FROM MAKIN MATTRESSES - once they have your money you are history.
